Laboratory Analyst

Full time or part time positions available.

Overview:

The Laboratory Analyst at Sporelytics plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of our analytical data. This role involves comprehensive analysis, meticulous review, and precise reporting of data, as well as the proper management and maintenance of laboratory samples and equipment. The position is flexible to accommodate school or home schedules, with variable hours based on duties and workload


Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Review: Perform detailed analysis, evaluation, and review of laboratory samples and associated raw data, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Data Entry: Accurately enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Sample Management: Oversee the proper storage, archival, and disposal of samples, maintaining accurate records of all activities.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Conduct daily maintenance of analytical instruments and ancillary equipment, documenting all maintenance activities.
  • Calibration: Calibrate pipettes, balances, and thermometers, documenting daily recordings to ensure precision and accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Communicate and document deviations from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to management.
  • SOP Development: Assist with the preparation, review, and approval of analytical SOPs to ensure consistent and high-quality laboratory practices.
  • Workplace Organization: Maintain neat and orderly workspaces to promote efficiency and safety.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as required to support daily laboratory activities and ensure seamless operations.

Scheduled Hours:

  • Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility: 20-40 hours per week, with additional hours as necessary to complete duties and responsibilities effectively. Flexible scheduling to accommodate school or home commitments.

Minimum Educational and Background Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in a Life or Physical Science.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 months of related experience in the laboratory field or completion of on-the-job training with an experienced laboratory associate.

Activities and Physical Requirements:

  • Desk Work: Sitting and computer/microscope use at a desk for 80-90% of the day.
  • Mobility:Standing and walking for the remainder of the day.
  • Physical Activity: Occasional bending, stretching, and lifting (10-20% of the day), with minimal lifting of items up to 15 lbs (e.g., small laboratory equipment, computer hardware).
